The live sports event is a great place to inspire a movement, showcase a brand, and reach tens of thousands of engaged fans while they’re in a state of elevated attentiveness. It’s a place people go to escape the daily grind, to break free of stressors, and to relax. The video boards at baseball, basketball, football, and hockey venues are some of the biggest screens on Earth and these impossible-to-miss digital assets can convey real, memorable impact. We’ve had the pleasure of running many programs with America’s top brands to help build awareness for product launches, execute targeted conversion, and activate league sponsorships, all on powerful, dynamic, and impactful digital screens.
live sports proposals: risk vs. reward?
Live sports and their huge screens are also a fun and creative way to deliver messages to friends and family – from birthdays and anniversaries to welcomes and shout-outs. Fans often stare intently up at the screen, hoping to catch a glimpse of their message. And, from time-to-time, lucky fans get to take in a marriage proposal.
Most of the time, the “proposer” has a pretty good idea that the “proposee” will react favorably to the question. This result is a nice moment for the couple, a quick “awwww” from the crowd, and a happy moment for all.
There’s also a chance that it goes poorly. To many, the risk of a very public “no” response from the “proposee” is enough to discourage the proposal. Still, we as fans inevitably stumbled across one of these painfully awkward scenarios and it’s one of the few times people might wish the video board would disappear altogether.
From Kiss Cams to marriage proposals, the video boards in the live sports environment present some interesting options for a romantic gesture. For the foreseeable future, we at InStadium are going to stick to leveraging this environment to deliver customized and targeted programs for brands.
