Playing Skee-Ball is fun. Playing Skee-Ball the size of an entire basketball court or hockey rink is better. Add in 20,000 screaming fans and the buzz of the live sports environment and you have an in-game activation that creates some memorable brand connections. KeyBank and Kroenke Sports and Entertainment (KSE) have generated that buzz as the creators of an on-ice/on-court promotion known as “KeyBall.”

New Stadium, New Opportunity for D.C. United at Audi Field

“There’s no place like home.” The expression means a bit more in Major League Soccer, as home field advantage is a crucial part of the game. In fact, there wasn’t a single MLS team in 2016 that had a losing home record.  D.C. United has plans to leverage the advantage in the form of some brand new digs. Next year they’ll move into their new home, Audi Field. Ground breaking on the stadium began in February 2017 and completion is planned for June 2018. A new stadium means new amenities for the fans, new facilities for the players, and new opportunities for brands showcase key messages.

“We’re really excited,” said Luke Mohamed, Director of Corporate Partnerships at D.C. United while speaking with InStadium. “Partners want to create experiences for their clients, and we’ll be able do that in some creative ways at Audi Field.”

Hailing the Houses that Sports Built

More than 25 years ago, a struggling Iowa farmer—compelled by a mysterious, ethereal voice—razed his crops, built a baseball field for ghosts and, in the end, welcomed awestruck visitors from far and wide to his “Field of Dreams.” A place that was at once deeply personal and universally understood, drawn by … what? A game? Spirits?
The opportunity to bask in a phenomenon they couldn't fully understand? The film leaves us, the viewers, to decide the answer. And that's what makes its closing scene—headlights snaking over the horizon, toward a homemade baseball diamond nestled amid the corn—so powerful.
